In version 7.0, new functionality was introduced to download updated client files from the server in order to allow users to obtain client updates without the need to reinstall the client. However, the location that these files download to was fixed. This change allows users to select this download location in the same fashion that they have been able to do with the data store.
A new field was added to the LOWIS client Settings that allows a user to enter a directory that is used to store the client files downloaded from a server, (see figure below). Buttons to set the default path and to browse the local drive were added as well. If no value is entered the client will continue to use the default path introduced with the 7.0 client. Finally, a new command line option “–filepath” was added to allow users the ability to pass in a client files location when launching the client.
